Mrs Walker's 6th Grade Math Class

3/3/17

*Please make sure that students always have their interactive notebook with them. They tend to lose papers that are not automatically in their notebook. These notebooks are key to helping students when they get home.

*Students have been running low on supplies. Please make sure that they have paper, pencils, highlighters, and glue sticks.

*The classroom is needing a few extra things. If you are able to help that would be great! We need: glue sticks, expo markers, copy paper, and tissues. I really appreciate all your help and support.

*Tutoring is in full swing right now. We currently have 30 students registered, but about 20 or so actually show up. Please remind your students if they are not going to come so that Mrs. Buffington and myself can have a note of it. Also, this is not a social hour. Some students have been getting distracted and are using the tutoring time more as social hour. Remember if you student is signed up, that you both signed a contract agreeing to use the time properly, and that we have the right to ask a student not to return if they are being disruptive. Our last day of tutoring will be March 28th.

Important Dates:

3/17: Spring Fest

3/20-3/24: Spring Break: No School

3/28: Last Day of Tutoring

Students will be having a supply check on Monday 2/13. Many students have not been bringing their supplies and this is causing many distractions during class. This will count as a homework grade. They need to have their notebook, paper, pencil, highlighters and a glue stick. Please feel free to email me with any questions.

*Back to reality! I hope you all enjoyed the two week break. Please remember to have all supplies with you for class.

*We are starting a new unit. Its a good idea to go over the textbook with your student again to help them find the section "Decimal Ops".

*Grades that are posted are the report card grade. Many students fell behind and I had many zeros this second 9 weeks. Please check your child's agenda nightly to make sure they are completing all homework.

*Tutoring will start up again next Tuesday, January 10th. We will not have it on Tuesday, January 17th (I will be out of town).

* Its hard to believe that we are already at the end of the first semester. I know we are all excited for the much needed winter break, but please remind your students that is important to keep on task in class, and to make sure that they are bringing all their supplies.

*If I have your student 2nd period, we are doing a toy drive from families in need. If they bring in a toy by 12/15 they can have a dress down day for Winter fest. The toy should be something simple (stuffed animals, books, puzzles, coloring books and crayons). It should not be wrapped. Have the student bring the toy to me during 2nd period. Thank you for helping out families that are in need.
