If a summer trip to our nation's capitol -- and America's biggest city -- sounds like a fun adventure, you may be interested in Ms. Buffington's upcoming excursion.

In Washington D.C., students will see the Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, and the White House.  In New York City, highlights include the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, and Rockefeller Center.

"We visit all the monuments and memorials and see a Broadway show," Buffington said. "It's a blast!"

The Smithsonian Institution, including the National Air and Space Museum, Natural History Museum, and National Museum of American History, is included.

"You learn about US history, from the early colonies all the way to modern times," says Buffington, now organizing her seventh summer trip.

If this sounds like something you're interested in, see Ms. Buffington in room M-4 for more information.

Nothing captures the joy of the holiday season like classic songs sung by a choir.  That gift of music will be delivered this Friday (Dec. 8) when LBJ's choir, under the direction of Mr. Boozer, performs for Chaparral, Chamiza, and Marie Hughes Elementary Schools.

"For the fall semester, I plan on doing performances at easy, intermediate, and hard levels," said Boozer. "We'll also perform a concert at LBJ on (Tuesday) December 5."

Although Mr. Boozer in his first year at LBJ, he has been teaching 20 years and has a wide range of experience. He has taught Jazz, Concert Band, Music Clinic, private lessons in addition to Choir, the class he taught most recently at Truman and Jimmy Carter Middle Schools.

Here at LBJ, Boozer teaches Music Appreciation as well as Choir.

"I find rehearsing simple," Boozer said, "but remembering the different schedules is quite difficult. I want my students to learn about music theory and how to sing in a choir."

Be sure to attend one of the LBJ Choir performances this year; you're in for a treat!
